Tokyo has two major airports, Narita and Haneda. We prefer to fly into Haneda Airport as it’s located only 19 kilometres from central Tokyo (compared to Narita which is 65 kilometres away).
There are four options to get to and from the Haneda Airport:
Don’t get it twisted, this is not a limo ride to and from the airport. It’s a bus service, but it’s still pretty schmick. It offers pick up and drop off from major hotels and train stations in Tokyo’s most popular suburbs. We recommend taking the bus to the hotel closest to where you are staying and catching a taxi from there. Onboard, the bus provides free WiFi, a toilet and good luggage storage. The service runs from 6 am to 11.30 pm on most routes.
This train line runs to and from Shinagawa Station in around 15 minutes. The station is on the Yamanote train line loop, so you can transfer to Shibuya, Shinjuku and Tokyo stations from there. The service runs from 5.30 am to midnight daily.
The most convenient way to get from Haneda airport into Tokyo is by taxi. The taxi association applies a flat-rate fare of around 8,400 yen to most Tokyo suburbs with additional fees for expressways, and a surcharge from 10 pm to 5 am.
The Tokyo Monorail connects Haneda Airport to Hamamatsucho Station in downtown Tokyo in under 15 minutes. The station is on the Yamanote train line loop, so you can transfer to Shibuya, Shinjuku and Tokyo stations from there. The service runs from 5.15 am to midnight daily.
